The late afternoon sun, brackish stagnant waters, and a fence shadow, along with a clear blue sky give some interesting color combinations at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Florida. The reddish colors in the bright areas are from direct sunlight reflecting from the surface combining with light refracted to the bottom, reflected back up, and refracted back out. The greens are in the fence boards’ shadows, so there is less surface reflection to combine. The clear blue sky reflection and floating white vegetation add still more colors.
