My colleague David Abbott writes, “Several of these [browser] web apps would be great in PHY103. Spectrogram generates real-time spectrograms from the mic, generates sound according to the motion of the mouse, and has some instructive recorded clips (and corresponding spectrograms). The two string ones have nice audio, but the animations of the string aren’t realistic. The oscillators one is great for showing pitch and timbre. The interfaces are really [fun,] cute and appealing. All seem accessible from middle school (perhaps even elementary) through intro college.”
