With this issue of The Physics Teacher we begin a new phase in the evolution of the journal. During this, TPT's 50th-anniversary year, we celebrate the appointment of its next editor, Gary White. Gary brings to the position an extraordinary set of qualifications and relevant experiences. He is an exceptional physics teacher with years of experience in the classroom and instructional lab. Gary has taught all the standard undergraduate physics courses and has been a recipient of the Northwest Louisiana University Alumni Association's Outstanding Teacher Award.

Gary White has been an active member of AAPT for 20 years, regularly attending national and regional meetings. Gary knows TPT and its readership well; he has written for the journal and also served as a manuscript reviewer.
