Andrew C. Isola is presented with a 2011 Distinguished Service Citation in recognition of several national and regional roles he has played in support of AAPT's mission. He has been a member of the AAPT Committee on Teacher Preparation, president of the Michigan AAPT Section, and program chair for a number of Michigan section meetings. He is the only high school teacher on the National Task Force on Teacher Education in Physics. He has been actively involved in the Phys-TEC Project as the 2005–2007 Teacher-in-Residence at Western Michigan University and as part of the Project Leadership Team at the national level. He has served for many years as a consultant and presenter of professional development workshops for science teachers both locally and at the state level through the Michigan Math and Science Centers Network.
