An apparatus using magnetic bearings, derived from a common magnetic levitation toy, has been developed to investigate conservation of angular momentum. The device is rugged, easy to use, and simple to set up. Using this device and data acquisition system using a photogate, angular momentum conservation is verified to within a few percent.
