A recent note of mine described an eddy-current demonstration using a floating aluminum can. A similar can floating in a water-filled tray can be used in a simple electrostatic demonstration. The can will be attracted by a charged plastic rod. Just rub the rod with a cloth and then bring it close to the can. Now, try an even more interesting experiment with a small rectangular piece cut out of the can.
