In this paper we describe the second laboratory experiment in the liberal-arts physics course with the title “Galileo to Newton and Beyond.” The experiment calls attention to Galileo’s erroneous belief in the isochrony of the pendulum no matter how large the pendulum amplitude was. This belief dates from at least as early as 1602, 36 years before his Two New Sciences was published.
