As anyone who teaches astronomy to large classes of nonscience majors knows, the most difficult part is finding an assignment that encourages students to participate in, rather than just learn about, science. Now, teachers have a new opportunity to involve students in “real” science. All the student needs is access to a computer and the Internet. The project is know as SETI@home.
