Michio Kaku: Klopsteg Memorial Award
The Klopsteg Memorial Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the communication of the excitement of contemporary physics to the general public. It is traditional for the Klopsteg Memorial Award recipient to make a major presentation at an AAPT Summer Meeting on a topic of current significance suitable for nonspecialists. Klopsteg Award recipients receive a Certificate and a monetary prize.
The 2008 Klopsteg Award recipient is Dr. Michio Kaku, a theoretical physicist who cofounded string field theory. He is continuing Einstein’s search to unite the four fundamental forces of nature into one unified theory.
Dr. Kaku taught for at the City University of New York, where he holds the Henry Semat Professorship in Theoretical Physics. He is author of the textbook, Quantum Field Theory: A Modern Introduction.
