I’ll propose a physicist’s answer to Stanley Fish’s impudent question, and offer some thoughts about the role of text(book)s in the teaching and learning process. Also—with a view to offending as many listeners as possible—I will indulge in some gratuitous curmudgeonly remarks about the reform movement in physics education.
