Lorentz transformations x′=Lx may be characterized by an implicit equation of the type x′−x=M(x′+x), where the matrix M is a simple linear combination of the generators of the Lorentz group. By means of such implicit equations we discuss the multiplication properties of Lorentz transformations, in particular products of boosts, using only elementary matrix calculus.
