A standard technique is used to calculate analytic forms for the envelopes of trajectories for the following motions, given that all the trajectories of a particular family have the same energy and satisfy certain other conditions (e.g., all starting from the same point): parabolic motion under gravity; elliptic orbits in a harmonic‐oscillator potential; elliptic orbits under an inverse‐square force; and hyperbolic trajectories under an inverse‐square force.
