The apparent discrepancy in the final horizontal velocity viz. 0 and 2ωh=ωgT2 is removed by noting that in my description, the final velocity (relative to the space fixed axes) is V̄=ḡT downwards, which possess the small component V sin θ=Vθ=ωgT2 for θ small, as the required transverse velocity component in the rotated axes.
