The motion of a particle in a short‐range attractive potential, when treated classically but with quantized angular momentum l, can give rise to a finite series of particle ‘‘resonances.’’ When this picture is applied to the π–NP33 resonance it is discovered that a physically reasonable Yukawa potential could produce the effect and that no resonances of higher l value would exist.
