A number of instructive demonstration experiments in the field of light statistics are discussed which can be performed using a low‐cost time correlator–photon counter designed and built by the authors. A number of basic introductory demonstrations which aim at clarifying the concepts of intensity correlation function, photon‐bunching, coherence time, and related topics are briefly illustrated.
