An integral approach to the boundary value problem in waveguides is presented. This approach is deduced from the Kirchhoff’s integral formulation of the electromagnetic field. Several monodimensional cases of simple analytical solution are exposed showing the suitability of such approach as a complement of the usual differential formulation from a lecturer’s point of view. Finally, the basis for the numerical solution of more general problems is given, including the example of the isosceles right triangular guide.
