Electromagnetic showers induced by 1.57‐GeV e+ particles incident on a tantalum plate have been studied in a bubble chamber experiment. These showers illustrate many of the interesting properties of bremsstrahlung, e+e− pair production, Compton scattering, and other quantum phenomena. Some detailed comparisons between experiment and theory are made by using computer‐generated simulations of electromagnetic showers.
