In the current era of decreasing support and increasing administrative accountability it is noted that measurable objectives are increasingly being required. The nature of accomplishable objectives is examined, and a list of behavioral teaching objectives for a liberal arts general physics laboratory is presented. The list includes minimum performance levels and illustrations as currently advocated by educators. The objectives are suggested on the basis of two arguments: first, that they provide a rationally sound basis for the selection of laboratory content, and second, that they are stated in the form that is currently being accepted by administrators and accountability experts.
