We describe an inexpensive demonstrator which produces electrical wavepackets of variable length. The packets contain from one to sixteen 1-MHz waves. Students may make a Fourier analysis of the packets with ordinary AM radios. They will discover dramatically different spectra, confirming the complementarity rule between packet length and bandwidth,ΔxΔk≳1.
