The theory of irreducible tensor operators is employed to evaluate the matrix elements of the electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole interactions for molecules with several coupling nuclei. Two different coupling schemes are considered, namely the unequal coupling and nearly equal coupling representations. The relative intensities of the hyperfine transitions are also derived. Application of the theory is stressed in an expository manner.
