The properties of magnetic monopoles which are placed into an electric field are studied. The model is treated nonrelativistically following the pattern of Landau's diamagnetism. However, the roles of electricity and magnetism are interchanged. We obtain Dirac's value for the monopole strength and find that the total charge which serves as a source for the electric field is to be quantized in accordance with Dirac's prediction.
