This ballistics apparatus, assembled at practically no cost, eliminates the need of a spring gun and the nuisance of requiring sufficient space (as in the ballistic pendulum) to project a steel ball horizontally from the laboratory table. It also illustrates the behavior of a loaded spring in the gravitational field.
