The papers and discussions at the First International Conference on Physics Education, held in Paris from July 28 to August 4, 1960 are summarized. The Conference, attended by 86 persons from 28 countries, showed that the same concerns about the improvement of physics teaching exist throughout the world, in spite of a variety of historical and practical conditions that result in great divergences in the possible solutions of the common problems. As the appended resolutions of the conference indicate, there are many common actions that can be taken within all nations to accomplish the desired ends.
