An exact solution of the ballistic galvanometer equation, without any assumptions, has been impossible until the development of numerical analysis methods. A set of predictor and corrector equations have been developed so that the theoretical motion of the galvanometer coil can be calculated for any type or combination of impulses. The galvanometer equation has been solved, for the Leeds & Northrup, 16-second period, ballistic galvanometer. The equation was solved for sine wave, capacitor discharge, square wave, and double sine-wave impulses.
