Recently Lamarsh has called attention to old experiments that indicated an influence of light upon the magnetization of massive iron. One of the experiments has been repeated under conditions as free as possible from disturbing conditions that may have influenced the original experiments. No influence of light upon the magnetization of iron was observed. The upper limit of possible change of magnetization in the specimen that may have escaped detection was one cgs unit of intensity of magnetization I.
