The relationship between source strengths in millicuries and gamma-ray exposures in roentgens is discussed in terms of the definitions of these and of other basic quantities of interest in radiological physics. An experiment is discussed which serves to introduce students to these concepts and in which they can be made aware of some of the hazards of radiation exposure.
