The Tower of Winds in Athens, built about 100 B.C. by the Greek astronomer, Andronicus of Cyrrhus, is probably the oldest meteorological observatory and town clock still standing. A careful study of this structure was made at the middle of the eighteenth century by James Stuart and Nicholas Revett, a portion of which is here reproduced.
